Our surgeons, Dr. Richard H. Tholen and Dr. Douglas L. Gervais, have over 30 years of combined experience performing plastic surgeries of the face, breast, and body. In addition, Minneapolis Plastic Surgery, LTD. features an AAAASF-certified surgical center that allows patients to undergo outpatient surgery safely and privately in our own facility rather than in a hospital.

At Your Initial Consultation
Whether you live in the Minneapolis metro area, anywhere in Minnesota or adjacent states, or in more distant areas, obtaining information about plastic surgery, individual cosmetic concerns, your prospective plastic surgeon, his staff, and details about his practice is essential. Complimentary consultation with one of our surgeons is always available for our patients who are interested in plastic surgery but have questions they would like answered before they make their final decisions. Prescheduling or reserving a spot on our surgical schedule is possible for those who do not live close by, and comprehensive consultation prior to surgery allows both patient and surgeon to agree on a precise surgical plan. At a consultation, the prospective patient will meet with one of our board-certified, experienced plastic surgeons and learn more about what is involved in the procedure he or she is considering. Consultations at Minneapolis Plastic Surgery, LTD. are complimentary and no commitment is necessary – the ultimate decision is always yours to make.
At your initial consultation, you will discuss what you would like to change about your appearance with one of our surgeons, who will then create a prospective treatment plan and identify the unique factors that may affect your surgery. You will also receive a detailed cost analysis, and information about payment or financing options.

In general, you should follow the after-surgery instructions below:
- Use your medications as prescribed.
- It is necessary that you avoid strenuous activity, as blood pressure or pulse elevation can cause bleeding to occur.
- If you have had facial surgery, sleep with your head elevated above heart level for 14 days. This will help decrease soreness, bruising, and swelling.
- You may use an ice pack for the first 24-48 hours after surgery.
- Keep any bandages, dressings, or compression garments on and intact until you see your doctor. DO NOT REMOVE liposuction garments!
- You may drink liquids when you arrive home. By evening, if you are not nauseated, you may have a light meal.
- Do not drink any alcoholic beverages, including beer and wine, for five days or while taking pain medication. Alcohol, medications, and/or anesthetic drugs may interfere with good judgment.
- Do not lift any objects greater than five pounds.
- Call 763-545-0443 if you have unusual swelling, bleeding, or any concern.
