Case 3: Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
This 37 year-old mother of three did not like her waistline, and hoped that liposuction of the abdomen and hips would improve these areas. Examination revealed that her abdominal protrusion was related to stretched abdominal wall tissues and widening between her abdominal muscles (from her pregnancies) rather than excess subcutaneous fat. Her hips were absolutely appropriate for liposuction at the time of abdominoplasty (which included tightening her abdominal muscles and repairing a small umbilical hernia as well).
