Case 3: Liposuction (Suction-assisted Lipoplasty or Liposculpture)

This 44 year-old man came to Minneapolis Plastic Surgery for liposuction of the abdomen and hips. He is active, maintains a steady weight, but is unable to diet or exercise off the thickness in his midsection. Ultrasonic-assisted lipoplasty (liposuction) of the abdomen and hip rolls was carried out under a light general anesthetic with tumescent local anesthesia to reduce bruising and swelling; the patient wore a compression belt for 3 weeks, but returned to work in several days.
